Reminds me of one of my first gas to diesel repowers.
28 bert with the 4LH.
Owner was taking it to st thomas after it was done but what I didn't know was a 300 gallon round plastic tank showed up at the yard as an aux for the boat.
Only place for it was aft of the engine deck step.
Built a frame and after the sea trial loaded the tank and frame on the boat.Hatches over packing were covered with no hope of getting to them.
They loaded a ton of crap in the cabin. They started to fill the tank and as the boat settled, the scuppers went under water.
Now I know why they had me put the largest 12v bilge pump I could get in the aft hatch.
Their theory was that while moving along the water would drain. If they had to slow down the pump would cover the in rush of water.
I suggested they glass over the scuppers, but they did not want to.
Last we saw or ever heard from them was three of us at the end of the dock watching a very over loaded 28 head for ST Thomas and remarking, "there goes a boat load of fish food".
Your aft deck bladder should work fine as far as balance goes if put right behind the engine boxes.
