Well I have been in the wait and see mode, boat is still on land. With the over due summer weather hitting I am getting itchy.
I will at least clean out the tank after I burn off the non-ethanol gas in the tank.
Thinking about relining my tank with Vinylester glass flake coat 555 made by LBI Gelcoat and Pigment Supplies. Quoting from there web site "its a glass flake reinforced vinylester gelcoat for coating fiberglass, steel and aluminum. This membrane is reinforced with thousands of glass flakes that form dozens of micron thick layers within the coating".
For additional info www.lbifiberglass.com/lbiproducts/gelcoatandpigments.html
They go on to say this this is also used for acids and other industrial chemicals.
If I do reline, I will remove the top of the tank, remove the antisapated aluminum baffels, clean out the tank make fiberglass baffles and reinstall the top.
Reasons, I need to confirm with there tech support, but I understand this will with stand E35 or more, will a aluminum tank with stand E35 without etching? Also this process is a fraction of aluminum tank replacement, $90.00 gallon for the barrier coat, $200. additional materials and labor.
These are my thoughts.Keep Smilin
