UVI 6

Well, it's been a tough year for a lot of us, what with Katrina, not seeing everyone at FLL due to Wilma trashing the Flophouse, the Prof getting sick, then cured, some of our beloved B31s getting pretty beat up. Our playground for the UVI, Port Eads, being utterly destroyed. Andre' losing his beloved "Houseboat Snapper" to Katrina there too. Even the dreaded UVI lodging houseboat at Port Eads, the "Pain Killer" was destroyed, know The Prof will miss that one.
My AJ has been bashed, but on the mend, in a near destroyed boatyard in the near destroyed city of New Orleans. I now realize how much I miss that boat for almost the past year. All my little upgrade projects I used to do on the weekends are now just dreams. The yard promises she will be good as new in a few weeks.
The reason I write this somewhat whimsical note to you, my good friends, is to thank you for your friendship, and patience when sometimes I get on a tear.
I'd also like to urge those of you that visit here and gain the knowledge that is shared here, for free, to put a check in the mail to Capt. Patrick to help support this site and keep it free and open to all (not you, spammer). Even if you can only afford a $5 check, it means a lot. It puts you in the company of The Faithful, a group that has become a worldwide fraternity of people with a common passion and common values. Please do it, write a check and mail it tomorrow, do it for me.
Now, for some fun that The Faithful are about to undertake: The UVI 6. When Katrina destroyed most of south LA, including Port Eads, I looked around for a place to have the UVI. I had heard about the Tropic Star Lodge in Panama, and checked into it. Sure enough, they have the largest fleet of Bertram 31s in the world, 15. Expensive place, and far away. But 24 of the Faithful ponied up the money, say six figures among us, and we are going Friday.
Thank you Patrick, you Ole Fart, for putting us together. The Prof, the Dead Man Walking, promises I can hug him without breaking his ribs when I see him this Friday at the hotel in Panama City.
Thank you all for being friends.
