I don't have the experience Bruce has, and can only relay mine, which has been good. Bruce, what kind of failure can occur due to the shims? I can tell you it's harder to pull the props with the shims than the ones without. I am sure your right about cathodic protection though, but mine stay's on a lift. Jim, I would listen to Bruce, as mine is my only reference, but I'll keep on until I repower or learn the hard way about why I shouldn't be using a shim on them.
