Phil,

If you're capping with aluminum, you only need 1 layer of 1 1/2 oz mat followed with a layer of either 1208 or 1708 biax. You may want to fair the final layup but not critical that you do. At least paint on a couple of coats of straight catalyzed resin to seal out pin holes.
