To bed or not to bed?

Finished replacing the aluminum rail with the PVC this weekend. First of all if you can find someone to supply the rail demo and install for $5,000.00 jump on it. Throw your money at him as fast as you can. This is by far the messiest and most labor intensive project we have done, and we've done alot of projects on this boat.
To the point. We have the PVC floated in 5200 and bolted and screwed in place (3 cases of 5200 to be exact) I have yet to put the stainless rail on and am leaning toward caulking that in as well, because it seems you can never be water proof enough. Has anyone done this job before and what protocol did you use?
