I think the problem up here is the short boating season. Its hard for a shop to make a go of it when people just use their boat 5 months out of the year. They can't afford to hire quality people and have them sit around all winter with no work. Long Island and New jersey are better but still have a long way to go before you can compare them to what's available in Florida. There are a few good places but for the smaller jobs you rely on the local wrench and wait till he is available or do it yourself.
