Listen to bruce. I proably replaced over 100 bearings in the last year or so from 1 1/4 to 5". Six this week alone. You need a jacking tool to do it with the shaft in place. Some times you have to jack them in also. Beating on a strut is not the best thing for the bedding. I'm sure there is a yacht center on the Island that has the tools. http://www.a1discountprop.com/toolinginboard.htm is where you could get them.
