Tom,
Thanks for the lead. I spoke with the antenna engineer from Gam Electronics and he sounded well informed. My concern is is 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum holding up in a saltwater enviroment. How does your's look after three years. I know I've tried epoxy on aluminuma and doesn't want to stick too well even when roughed up and acid bathed first. Looks like that antenna works well though. I just have what came with the boat, 6' Shakesphear but it's on the bridge roof ,(deck of tuna tower)
My M Squared SSB VHF (Ham) gets me well over 200 miles but that's not dependable as nobody may be listening. Just my friends who I let know where I'm at.
The HF SSB works fair at this point as I only have 28 square foot of ground plane plus capactive coupled to SS aux tank and boats ground as per Icom.I'm starting to fish like crazy now and enjoying evey second on my 31. Love those Diesels.... Dave K
