Cutlass install

Since my yard mechanic is to busy right now I am going to try installing a new cutlass bearing myself using the pipe method. Only problem is I can't find a pipe that will do the job. My 1 3/8 bearing seems to be slightly to big for 1.5 pipe, looks like it only covers the rubber part of the bearing and when I add a coupler its a shade to large. Now the new bearing would work out nicely but I don't know if it could stand the pounding. Any idea would be welcome
