The proper fastener is made of silicon bronze, and you can get them from Hamilton Marine, www.hamiltonmarine.com. Nice folks.

Stainless is ok, but silicon bronze is better, and as the Shrimp Pimp says, make sure they are well bonded. TefGel coating anything metal is essential if you ever want to get it apart. Magic in a tube.
