In Response To: A big thumbs down (bruce)

Seems that's not uncommon. It's changed my whole attitude on donating. When my first wife died of Cancer, I made a sizeable donation to The American Cancer Society in her name. I guess the amount warranted putting me on a list worthy of getting their Annual Report. What a shock! Fancy digs, super salaries on top, etc., etc. An awful lot of bucks spent before anything gets to Cancer Research. Benefit Balls always do more for the hotels and caterers than for the people they claim to benefit. For what it's worth, a bit of research has shown me that the organization with the lowest operating costs and highest percentage of funds going directly to their cause is The Salvation Army. Unfortunately, a lot of these "Not for Profit" organizations have become businesses in themselves with overheads and salaries that defy belief. I now pick and choose carefully who I donate to...which reminds me...I have to send a check to support our sandbox! Walter
