In Response To: Alternator removal (Dave)

Dave,
If its the bushing that I am think about it does not actually hold the Alternator in the mounting bracket. You should be able to "Wiggle" alternator and slid it out of the bracket. The function of the bushing is to compensate for width differences of the alternator housings. If the next alternator that you install is wider or narrower than the one that you removed, the bushing will slide in or out to fit the new alternator. The bushing should be snug but still slide back and forth. You are correct in not wanting to force it because the cast iron bracket will break.
