Not sure if this'll help, but...I've played around with sanding Toplac (single part paint), and found that if I brought it up from 800 through 1500 wet sand, and then polished it, it looked almost exactly like gelcoat. Not quite the gloss of paint, but with that gelcoat shine. Really nice. The wetsanding goes pretty fast to.

I'd start with 1500, and if that isn't doing it, try 1200, etc. Go with the finest first, because you can always go coarser, but can't really go the other way without alot of work. Good luck.
