Careful What You Wish For

I was a little behind in getting the boat ready this season sooo one of my fishing buds says "how about I take a day off and give you a hand"? I said that's great meet you there in the morning. Well, he gets there an hour or so ahead of me and proceeds to clean the boat from top to bottom. I arrive and see him hard at work with what looks like the first coat of wax going on the hull. As I get close to the boat I realize its not wax but my boat now has a satin finish. As I ask him what the f*^%k he did to the boat I see a scotch brite pad it the bucket he is using to clean the boat and realize what happened. After trying some polishing compound with little effect I thought someone here might have an idea or two I can try before I kill this guy. The hull is painted but I am really not certain what type of paint. Sorry for the long post but it may keep me out of prison.
