Lets think about the real impact of ethanol on the environment. First of all we have the obvious, higher fuel consumption, damage to engines, it takes more energy to make it than to refine regular gas. Now lets look at the not so obvious. To grow enough corn or grass, or what ever we are going to use we need to use a lot of water. There will be a need to irragate those fields. Then we need to fertilize those same fields, then we need to use pestacides so the bugs don't eat the crops. Ok now, as we start to use up our water supply the price for a gallon of oil will exceed that of oil, the, fetilizer and pesticides will destroy the environment. So what ever the Green folks tell us, it doesn't work if we just think about it. Now, they will not let Exxon drill in the Gulf of Mexico. Afraid of oil spills. So now what happens, Cuba leases areas of the Gulf within their territorial waters to a Chinese Oil Co. But here we are, saying we can not let our own oil companies drill that close to Florida for fear of an oil spill. If Exxon spills Oil they will clean it up, their cost. If the Chinese spill oil, we will clean it up our cost. Same ressult, differant pockets. Our good Government has created a mess. Tony Meola
