Do you have the five year warranty Bobbert?
I ran new ones from 1996-2000 in my old 25. Mercruiser replaced my starboard engine thanks to my good dealer here. The port was starting to go too and to my knowledge there was no ethenol then. They ran great but both inner cyclinders were bad in mine . Brand new!

Based on what you 've said sure is the varnish being disolved off your tank suspect. Also suspect would be the the tank itself being that the ethonol makes the indside soft and actually melts the resin. Only one way to find out. Unfortunatly replacing the tank with an Aluminum or Stainless steel or go with a new vinylester tank. Sorry for the worse case scenerio situation but you are not alone. I sold that boat and went with to a 31 with Diesels. No problems so far with Diesel. BioDiesel gives us no problems. Diesels will run on almost anything.Hope you fix it soon. Dave K
