Wow...That is the first instance I have heard of a retailer getting out of the biz because of the ethanol thing. But they seem to have point.
Meanwhile consider this:
1)If you had a huge investment in a retail network specializing in the distribution of liquid fuel stock; And
2) if, say half, of the liquid fuel was changing over from what it is today to something new;Question: Would you invest in the new technology?
3)What if you had around thirty BILLION bucks in profits in ONE YEAR that you could spend to do so? An extra $30,000,000,000 looking for a place to live and be productive. How about then? Would you invest just a lousy one hundred million?
Just $ 100,000,000
of $30,000,000,000 ?You'd still have $29,900,000,000 to spend on new Bert toys with your friends, the Board of Directors. OOOPs, you have to give the shareholders something. How about you get generous and give them huge dividends amounting to $400,000,000
That rounds it down to a crummy $25,500,000,000 to split up. Man this is getting expensive! Everyone is looking for a hand out! Pretty soon we won't be able to afford that third beach house in the Hamptons or that extra Gulf Stream jet for the kids.That is just 1 buck for every 300 or 0.33%

I don't see the big oil fella's doing that. Do you suppose that is because they know something they are not sharing with the rest of us? Something along the lines of - Ethanol isn't going to replace oil anytime soon.
Just musing...but it IS something that makes you say "Hmmmm..."
