I just purchased a home last year. The home surveyor was highly reccomended and was neutral to both parties. He found lots of stuff, but neglected to find the 5K worth of work that needed to be done to the inside of three chimneys. When I was looking to rake him over the coals, it turned out that the only thing he was liable for was what was paid for the survey. The most I could get was a little under 200.00.

Hind site is 20/20, next time I will get a separate chimney inspection.
