From my business side I picked this up and thought it may add some insight to the future of diesel. This is a comment from a user of over 350 diesel powered transit buses and his experience with B100.

SORTA/METRO runs 6V92 DDEC, Cummins M11's,ISL's,ISM's in various HP ratings of 280 to 330.
We have run soy from 5% to 100%.and have been running soy all winter.
Starting last September we were running 40-50 % soy. No problems. This is based on usage of soyfuel not yellow grease or reclaimed cooking oil.
There are some precautions to take before you jump in though.

Buses and engines made before 1993 may have hoses and seals that may be adversely effected over time with the use of soyfuel and plug filters and harm fuel systems.
This mainly natural or nitrile rubbers. After 1993 most elastomers are compatible with B100 (Viton/Teflon).

Fuel tanks, both storage and bus, need to be clean inside. Soy has a natural ability to clean what ever it goes through. Contamination is a initial problem.
Buy good quality DF2 or DF1. Buy soyfuel that at minimum meets B100 spec of ASTM D6751-03 and the supplier meets BQ- 9000 quality assurance with documentation with delivery.

We have not expeirenced any problems with your listed areas of concern.
No lose of power, no starting problems.

The diesel guys are next in a few years, its coming.
