If Bush suspends the use of ethanol for the summer we might be nearly out of the woods because the EPA is going to revoke the rquirement by this fall. They already have for California. (See link to Federal Register at bottom of page. This is the same one I have posted before, so if you have been there once there is nothing new.)
Meanwhile the renewable fuel mandate still exists. I believe renewable fuel is a noble goal, I just don't want it stuffed down the fill pipe of my incompatible vehicles. I think it would be great if they sold E-85 for E-85 compatible vehicles at the pump right alongside the one for good old gasoline with TAME or ETBE in it that works in my good old car. Am I polluting more than the guy that uses the new fuel? I don't think so...I have been driving one vehicle for 18 years while he has probably sent three to the crusher. And as we all know lots of bubble boats are rotting in boat yards as we continue to usher our Bertrams lovingly through their third, and some even forth decade of service. So add up the other guy's pollutant impact in terms of the junk yard and the by-products of making new boats and cars and I'd say I'm likely ahead.
Meanwhile here is a pop quiz: What do you call it when top administration officials meet in secret with top oil execs and decide the energy future of this country, but they won't even tell the citizens who was at the meeting much less what was said..... and now those execs are making more money than ever before in the history of the WORLD.
You can't call it a government conspiracy, that would be crazy talk! LOL
