Phil,

I trying to be a practical man made compartments in the side panels for storage. Now to access the storage I simply did cut outs and made sliding doors on aluminum u channel. It does two things: gives you storage and gives you air since they are not air tight by any means and that is a good thing in this case. Simple and functional. It does take a little bit of work to make them but one of my easier projects. I'm no carpenter either ask Patrick. That's why I love these boats . You can do so much with a Bertram 31. Hence one of the several reasons why they are so popular. Dave K
