I used Penetrol to revive my badly aged blue formica tops. It did a great job. As noted, wipe it on, let it work briefly then wipe it off thoroughly. A little elbow grease might be needed.

I plan to try Scotts Liquid Gold on my wood grain this year. Its not in as bad a condition as the formica was and I much prefer the smell of SLG to Penetrol.

I'm thinking the SLG probably soaks into and coats the laminate surface. I got the feeling that the Penetrol was actually dissolving the formica surface, that a chemical reaction was taking place. Just my impression.
