If you are using a true seacock, then you thru bolt the seacock to the backer boards and, while the 5200 is fresh, screw the thru hull into the seacock from the outside. The nut is not used for this type installation and the seacock and thruhull sandwich the hull and backer between them. This is the approved method of installing a thruhull with valve and is much safer than sticking a valve on the top of the threaded part of the thru hull, although we have all done it that way before.
