Bill,
If a non C.G. certified tank were to be involved in loss of property, & your insurance company found out, you'd loose the claim.
If the tank is C.G. approved, your resale value should be unaffected. However, since there exists within the boating community a lot of negativity toward stainless steel fuel tanks, a particular buyer might pass on the potential sale or negotiate for a lower sales price claiming that the tank would have to be replaced.
Having the tank made by a C.G. approved fabricator, proper installation, and photo documentation should cover anyones concerns down the line.
