Good CX tale

Son Capt. Brent showed up at the house this afternoon with a seized up 5 KW generator powered by the dreaded Tumeceh engine. Locked hard as a brick. It had not flooded in the storm 7 months ago, but been out in the rain a lot. So we took the spark plug out, shot a lot of CX in the cylinder, let it sit a little while, and a big socket on the flywheel finally broke it loose, aided by a 5# sledge hammer on the socket handle. My guess is rust had seized the piston and rings to the cylinder bore. So we worked it with CX and the big wrench for a while till it turned over smoothly.

Then we figured out the crazy wiring for the kill switch and low oil level shutdown (low oil switch had failed, so we bypassed it). Finally got some spark out of the plug, buttoned it all back up (did a little drilling and bolting to get the broken off parts in place - I declined to weld right next to the 5 gal. gas tank) and after shooting some carb cleaner in the intake, the sucker started and ran fine. Even made volts. I probably shot about half a can of CX. Anyway, one more dead Katrina victim is alive due to the Magic in a Can.
