Diesel options

Conversing with a forum member I was told the 140hp 4-53's give him a solid 17-18knt with 1.6ghm burn. That is what I am looking for in a conversion at this time. Motors are within budget but have heard about the "Drip Factor" and it makes me leary.

What alternatives are available in this range of HP. Any good and bad points. Also, does anyone know the torque ratings on the 140HP 4-53's. I was looking at a pair of Cummins 4BT's rated at 150hp, but Capt. Pat said not enough HP, anyone know the torque on these?
