Dan- Sounds like you've lost your pressurization. If you haven't lost your fluid level an O ring may have gone. First, tighten the filler cap. Pump up 20-40 lbs of pressure. Check the air filler valve with some spit to see if it bubbles. If so-bad valve. If not, go to helm and keep spinning hard to each direction until you feel some pressure. Don't get discouraged. Keep it up and you'll see the rudders starting to move. Once they do, see if you've maintained or lost pressure. It sounds like you have to purge your system of air once you know there's no simple loss of air. A spray with a bottle of water with a few drops of dishwasher detergent will usually spot a leak.
