Thanks Patrick, I have had experience of seriously over-powered boats, but not in a deep vee before, but I can see how it would happen. My gut feel, and from the consensus here, we are homing in on around 300hp which will be plenty. I just read the Yanmar vs Cummins debate of March 2005 - very informative. You guys are very patient with newcomers re-hashing old issues, thanks again. Nic ps love to see the data table on all mechanical performance issues one day.
