Steyr Engines

I was approached by the Florida distributor about becomming a dealer.

They are widening the dealer and support network, but time will see what happens.
They are not cheap. More expensive than Yanmar for less HP.

But the advantage which could lead to less overall installation cost is that you can use the same gear box and running gear.

They do this by using high speed engines. I asked about the inline velvet drive and was told it would work fine behind the engine.

HP is limited to 250@4300 rpm on the biggest engine.

I will wait and see as I requested to see a boat that was repowered with the engines. He is supposed to bring one by so I can sea trial and I'll let you know.

Not happy with what they want me to spend for becomming a dealer and that will change for sure, but the main concern is support and engine longevity.

The engines are computer controlled overhead cam driven injectors.
Very similar fuel system to the 2 cycle Detroit.
Each owner will get a copy of software for their laptop to diagnose problems, but what I found over the years is that the computers actually work very well.
Its the typical marine engine/boat crap that still gives you problems.
