David: I flush mounted a 2010 in a 116 MPH catamaran by cutting a hole in the dash the shape of the back of the Garmin, sliding it through the hole so that the outer flange is tight against the dash and securing it with two pieces of aluminum angle about 4" long which pressed against the back of the dash. Tha Angle pieces were secured by machine screws into the Gimbal holes. You can get the flush mount kit from Garmin, but it is basically the same thing. It worked great and had no problems after two years. I have attached other electronics the same way with no problems. Rawleigh
