IBM 360-30. Memory the size of a battery box for a couple of 8D's. Capacity of a cheap watch. Testing a new program once and actually blew the memory. Smoke and everything, just like a cartoon. Took tweve hours to get and replace the memory. Since I was on at the time of the demise I got right back on to finish my test and kapow, did it again. Went back to checking code and found a very tight loop which did the job. Cost the Commonwealth of VA about sixty large in twenty-four hours. Not my fault and I'm sticking with that story.
BillGates' faulty logic from the start is what infuriates me. At least Steve Jobs saw the light, started from scratch, nearly bankrupted him, but now he's on the fast track. Gates insists on continueing with the same faulty logic which the good old American people eat with a spoon. Lot's of folks switching to Jobs and loving a computer that does what it is purported to do without crashing continuously like a drunk in is wife's car on Friday night.
Glad I got that off my chest. WHew!
