Cockpit floor supports

I'm looking for some input. I removed my cockpit floor and I want to replace some of the supports, I have done this once already with mahogany but now that I'm replacing my engine boxes with Cabrera's and there long fish boxes so I have to eliminate some of the supports. I also am rerouting the exhaust to the outboard side of the longitudinal stringers, I want to be able to get to the exhaust so the 1 x 8 mahogany stringers are to wide. I was thinking of using aluminum I beams ... any thoughts or suggestions?
