Damn! Almost sorry I started this, except it brought Timmy out of the closet! I think even the Volvo unit is brass, not aluminum, and I think the commercial units Vic referred to have cages over the props that Volvo forgot to use. The Volvo test boat ran aground in the ICW leaving a boat show, maybe Lauderdale - it was in print, a couple of guys went to the hospital, but we don't know if we can blame it on the IPS. I don't think the drives sheared off like they were supposed to, though. I think the Volvo system is losing the enthusiasm of the boat building community. As for the supposed acceptance, find me a boat magazine that will tell the truth about Bayliners being a poorly made boat? Most boating magazines are paid ad sections between glossy covers. The IPS should give good numbers, don't think it will hold up, real world. The Merc is better because the props face the right way. Either one will be too expensive for a repower, even if practical. My point in posting was to discuss something new - and maybe have Merc offer to put a pair of Zeus drives in Black Sheep for testing, for free - and kick in a Savage 16 gauge for Timmy!
