We had trouble with one of the inhulls on a 30' scarab that I own with a friend, and the electronics guy said forget the oil bath. He epoxied the puck transducer directly to the hull in the bilge. Said the only trick is to be careful mixing the epoxy so you dont entrain air bubbles. Works great. Fountain does it this way as well I believe. You can do this with the regular thru hulls as well, they just stick up more in the bilge. The angle of the deadrise will only affect you if you are in really deep water. I'm usually in less than 100' so it doesn't matter to me.
