Well, well... Who do we have here?
I guess you have your computer fixed again and our quite peaceful spell has come to an end.
As a member of the Browning O/U club (and Ruger for that matter) I have to comment that I'm not sure how a 16GA SxS can hold a family together? The last time I can remember a firearm being the epicenter of the family was when Jed Clampet struck it rich on Beverly Hillbilly's. That was TV and maybe your reality.
I guess what I am saying; you should invest a little time in another hobby. Maybe even invest in a Bertram... or at least therapy.
As for the new drives... Only time will tell. Maintenance on a standard shaft drive is straight forward and simple, most stewards replace their own packings and can find machine shops around the world can remake shafts on a moments notice. I can see these new drives on larger higher end boats. These boats are owned by people that have the financial backing to pay for the boats, and what ever maint. costs that need to be done by qualified techs. How much is the increased efficiency worth to you? If making your boat stand still in the wind as well as the margin of efficiency, then I guess the new drives are what you need. Marine prices are high enough. For me, I want something far simpler and for my budget, cheaper. These things are an engineering wonder, but come at a great price.
To each their own.
