Russ, If you have the place to put one, a lift is a no-brainer. Your hull will stay clean, bottom paint will last 5+ years, you won't worry about storms (hurricanes yes) or failed bilge pumps and no electrolysis. The only possible down side would be the hull will sag on the outside, making the doors hard to operate when on the lift for a while, but a little time in the water and she's back to normal. As far as thru hulls and shafts, not a problem, my bunks are directly under the stringers, cut to a 23 degree bevel, I can easily put her on the lift alone (do it all the time). Once you have the guide poles positioned, and are a little used to it, it's almost automatic. I also have a 6 pole lift, and while not required by all manufactures for a 20k lift, I would recomend them as the support beams will sag in the middle without the center post. One other thought, if your subject to any wave action, go to 12" poles, not much more money, but much more stable the 10" ones. I have first hand experence watching mine (rock steady) and my neighbors 10" (rocking back & forth) in the last two hurricanes. I'm no expert, but I don't think I'm wrong on this one, YOU WON'T REGRET THE LIFT, BUT YOU WILL REGRET NOT HAVING ONE.
