Hi Frank, what engines are these. A local marine parts store has a replacement engine harness. I'm not sure if they'd have an extension to reach your helm? But if you could get the replacement harness it should have the mfg standard wire coloring and from that you should be able to order spools of wire to create your own harness.

As UV said, the junction panel approach works well, just keep a key/diagram handy. Also try to locate it in an easy to reach dry place.
