Harry, I had Detroit 8.2s,250hp which is similar to the Cats. Went to Cummins 315s, lost about 1000lbs weight. You are right the boat rides better in rough water with the weight. Only gained 2 knots on the top end speed, but the boat has a lot faster exceleration, more like a sports car now with the Cummins. Ken
