Al - I put a shoot-thru-the-hull ducer in AJ a couple of years ago for the Garmin 2010C sounder module. I mounted it on the stb. side just ahead of the water tank under the salon floor about 6" up from the centerline. The plastic cylinder that the hockey puck ducer mounts in is adjustable to point down vertically from 0 to about 22 degrees by just rotating the top and the base. Since we all know our B31s have a 24 degree deadrise, I was concerned if I could get the cylinder vertical. Well, the curvature of the hull inside near the keel line is less than 22 degrees, and using a little liquid bubble level I was able to get it dead vertical with the index markings on the cylinder showing about 20 degrees.
Anyway, take a 4" side grinder with about a 80 grit disk and lightly grind the area on the inside of the hull about twice the diameter of the cylinder, wipe it down with acetone, then place the cylinder in place and mark the inside of the cylinder where the puck will go and the outside flange that rests on the hull with a marks-a-lot. You will end up with two concectric circles on the hull. Take some 3M 4200 fast dry and run a bead between those marks-a-lot circles and press the cylinder down on the bead, keeping the correct 20 degree angle. Put on a disposable glove and with a finger wipe the excess 4200 from the inside of the cylinder. For looks wipe down the excess between the flange and the hull. Put a brick on the top of the cylinder to keep it pressed down. Let the 4200 set up overnight, then install the puck in the mineral oil, the o-ring for the top and you are ready to go. Since the B31 is a solid glass hull, you should not have to worry about where the cylinder goes. But Keith with Sea Trac showed me a trick to make sure - take the hockey puck ducer, hook it up to the sounder then put the puck in a zip lock bag full of water and just place it on the hull where you want it. If you get a good reading, you are fine.
Anyway, guess you asked what time it was and I just told you how I'd make a clock.
