Garmin 2010C/ GSD20

I have a 2010C and recently bought a GSD20 depth sounder module. Was told that I could use my existing Furuno transducer,just needed to get the apropriate jumper. Got one and it doesnt work. First Garmin said I need a sofware update,did that, still dont work!!! Now Garmin says because its a Furuno it wont work. Anybody use another transducer other than a Garmin? I would think all transducers are the same if you have the specified frequency i.e. 50/200khz and the correct jumper with pins. Ken
