Well, Mike, you are right. The people made PE what it was. After all, it's just a spot in the middle of nowhere. Yeah, close to blue water, but isolated, and the people that gathered there over the years made it special. Your PE story in one of the national fishing mags captured the flavor of the place and the people, and the ghosts. Oh yeah, Faithful, I understand our own Capt. Mike Holmes won an award for that PE ghost story just this week.

Anyway, in talking to Ms. Pee Wee tonight she brought up some memories. Like the time we were there for a UVI and the Pee Wee crew showed up in a small boat one night and boarded the huge blue Choy Lee and the power was shut off. Somehow the breakers on the dock had tripped. Pee Wee was pissed. Turned the power on and none of the many a/c systmes would work. Pee Wee was cussing on the dock with a flock of fancy ladies about to sweat all night. I saw Bruce, the most mild mannered and reserved person I've ever known (in spite of his now and then rants here) sitting in Pee Wee's pavillion and asked him if he would look at Pee Wee's a/c. Bruce is probably the top marine a/c guy in the US. He said "sure", went and got his little tool bag. I asked Pee Wee if it was OK for me to let my guest, the top marine a/c guy in the US, take a look at his a/c problem. Bruce walks up and I indroduce them. Bruce goes into the blue boat and me & Pee Wee retire to the pavillion (someone describe Pee Wee's Pavillion other than me to get an objective flavor of this) and have a clear or 12. All of a sudden a bucnh of fancy women burst out of the blue boat cheering. Bruce has fixed all the multiple a/c units in about 20 minutes. Pee Wee turns to me and says "Uncle Vic, you ain't half bad for a goddam lawyer".

Other memories of PE and the UVI......

Randall and Ric sleeping in a packing crate on the dock with a window a/c in it......

The fiddler crabs in the Pain Killer houseboat....

Stan Smith hand feeding a 12 foot alligator off the dock...... Randall wading to breakfast the next morning on the flooded dock just ahead of the same gator....

Sitting on Miss Vicki's deck singing the chorus line to "I'm More Redneck Than You" sung by her son Hollis.... The Shrimp Pimp showing up with his girls...... All of us agreeing to chip in to syndicate the Redneck Song.......

Anyway, the place is gone for now. The friends we made for life are not..... Memories is what we are, the difference between us and apes I guess.
