MA stands for marine approved.
It has a CG/UL approval for marine use.
It has the metal heat deflector and a plug in the bottom instead of the valve.
It'll give a few more minutes in a fire and may have a bearing on your insurance rates.

The FG does not have the CG/UL rating and is also used in marine and over the road/off road truck applications.
