Sean,
First find out how close the pickup is from the bottom.
100 gallons left in the tank on empty won't do much good if the pickup doesn't reach it.

Then get a sender the length of that pickup.
That's usable fuel, not total fuel capacity.

And remember, a fuel level gauge is only a good guess at best.
If you need to access all usable fuel and run long runs to the point of possibly running out, then a Floscan is what you want.
