The cheapskate yankee thing we do up here is to spool our reels 80% full with dacron one line class higher than the reel class, and then splice in whatever class monofiliment you want to use. That way we have a lot of line on the reel that will never wear out, yet we also have the forgiveness of the mono. Plus, when I need to change my mono I only have to put on a couple of hundred yards at most instead of a full spool.

Damn cheap yankee beancounters!
