Rusty, foul, rotten, unholy Racors

Here they are.
I would like to remove these filters and give them a good cleaning before replacing or re-installing them. The port side unit needs a replacement part as well. My question is this how do I seal off the incoming and outgoing fuel lines? I assume they're too stiff to pinch shut. Would I use some type of brass barbed plug maybe?
Also, any good reason not to remove the metal bowls below the glass bowls?
