If you fish with unexperienced shark fishermen, I would suggest you stay with Mono as it is far more forgiving of errors than the newer braided lines. Their stretch works for you rather than against you. I love the new lines for bottom fishing as it is very sensitive due to its lack of stretch and you can use smaller sinkers because of it's thinner diameter. It can be a bit dangerous when you hang up as you can cut your fingers trying to break free. For that reason I use mono leaders with an overhand knot just before the sinker as a place for it to break. Knots with the newer lines need to be well done and with a drop of glue. Again, unexperienced guys with the new lines have been a bit problematic with me. You'll need a lot more of it to fill a 50. If you're thinking of a 100 yd "top shot" as I do on my bottom fishing reels, read the booklet on the proper knots to connect to mono or dacron. Walter
