I took a car ride with Harv at noon today on Long Island. He wanted to look at a tower that came off a 31 Bahia Mar. It would fit Harv's boat. Well he didn't like it. I did but I have one already.
Just in front of the marina office, there was a 31 FBC with no fuel tank. We asked the owner( The marina owner) -- he said the boat was getting a new tank because of the ethenol situation. The marina boss said it's a time bomb and that the boat owner was biting the bullet now rather than wait for the tank to go. He seems to know what he's talking about. He said all the Berts prior to 1985 are in truuble. In the same breath, the boss said he had a repower in the back shop if we'd like to see. Well, lo and behold there it was-- the hull was the most beatiful teal I've ever seen. The whole boat is being done over! The Yannie 315's are in, the fly bidge is almost finish. I said it looks like $200,000USD to me. He replied, "You're $90,000USD light".
He bought the boat from the former owner thru a bank auction for $500. Then paid fees and tile of another $1500. No one bid against him. Man o man! He's selling the tower and I would imagine the gas engines. The boat had to worth $30,000. This make over shows the comitment to the Bertram31. He could have done any boat, yet he chose the ' BEST BOAT EVER BUILT'. Amazing! The yard is the "Treasure Island Marina" in Seaford. Ask for 'Ray'.
