Thanks/Gasket/Sealer question

Thanks guys,I always know where to go to ask these questions. I must admit I feel a little embarassed sometimes asking such elementary tech questions but then I get a response from Uncle Vic himself, someone willing to give a newbie like me 5 minutes of their time.What a site.Here I go with another one, we are replacing sending unit my buddy's Grady fuel tank (aluminum)has a little corrosion.The kit has a rubber type gasket included,I know that a gasket sealer is not intended but with that small amount of corrosion will it seal well without a sealer,if not what sealer should I use ,I have some aviation gasket sealer ,would that work on rubber?Also should I use a thread sealant on the mounting screws?Remember I have a B20(fuel tank issues) so we at least have one good boat in the neighborhood in the meantime we will try to slay some big brown trout trolling Lake Jocasee in the Grady thanks again.
