Stan,
When mixing diesel fuel with old engine oil, even oil that looks like baby crap, you add salt that you would use in a water treatment system to the mixing tank.

The salt will dissolve in water, not oil allowing the seemingly nasty looking mixture to seperate very easily.
Leaving you with oil on top and water below.
Once drained off, your left with a moisture free mix of diesel fuel and oil waiting to be further refined if you want.
